About the role

For fifteen years the company bought traffic project by project — until that setup started holding back growth. That’s why ROIcamp exists: a dedicated traffic brand, and you are its first hire. You build the media buying department from zero, but with backing no startup gets: in-house dating products running since 2011, farming, creative and analytics as separate departments, and budgets that need no investor sign-off. Your scope is source strategy, hiring team leads and buyers, unit economics and the department P&L. You report directly to the owner — no layers in between.

What you will do

  • Draft the hiring plan and assemble the department: team leads per source, middle/senior buyers, tight integration with farming and creative.
  • Set source and GEO strategy: Meta as the core (~70% of dating traffic comes from it), then Google and TikTok — only if the numbers justify it.
  • Build the department’s unit economics around the click → registration → activation → subscription → rebill funnel: spend, revenue, cohort LTV, P&L planning.
  • Establish the testing rhythm: hypothesis → creative in 24–48 hours → test → scale decision against fixed criteria.
  • Set SLAs with the farming department: account queues, cross-team priorities, reserves for ban waves.
  • Build reporting and dashboards with analytics: daily cuts per buyer, weekly per team, monthly P&L for the owner.
  • Design the buyer compensation grid on the “Bonus = % × (revenue − spend − consumables)” formula — transparent and market-competitive.
  • Defend quarterly budget frameworks with the owner — then allocate them inside the department yourself.

What matters to us

Required:

  • 4–6+ years in media buying, including 2+ years leading a team of 5+ buyers.
  • Proven profit at $100k+/month spend — we will walk through real cases, numbers on the table.
  • Dating vertical experience specifically: you understand subscription and rebill economics, not just cost per lead. Nutra/sweeps/gambling-only backgrounds don’t fit.
  • Meta infrastructure from the inside: farming, agency accounts, moderation, ban waves.
  • Experience hiring buyers and building reporting people actually make decisions with.
  • P&L thinking: you can tell the owner where every dollar went and what it brought back.

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on Google Dating & Companionship certification.
  • Industry network: buyers, services, direct advertisers.
  • Experience launching a department or channel from zero.

What you get

  • A mandate to build it your way: structure, people, sources, processes — your calls within agreed frameworks.
  • Budgets from a company that has earned on dating for 15 years — no investor pitches, no waiting for rounds.
  • Farming, creative and analytics already operating as separate departments — you plug them in, you don’t build them.
  • Fully remote on a B2B or gig contract — same as the whole team you’ll hire.
  • Base + % of department profit, paid on a fixed date every month.

Growth track

The ceiling here is a formality. The next level is CMO scale: all paid channels of the company, plus influence on product strategy through buying data. Once the department reaches stable profit, a wider mandate is a matter of numbers, not politics.

Compensation

$4,000–6,000 base + a percentage of department profit. Profit is computed transparently: revenue minus spend minus consumables; your share follows a grid fixed in a written offer. Payouts land on a fixed date every month — no “definitely next week.”

Process

30-min screening → interview with the owner → numbers-based strategy review (we give you real inputs) → offer. The whole cycle takes up to 10 business days. NDA before we go deep on product details.

Questions about this role

What team exists at the start?

The company has 40+ people: product, analytics, finance, support. You build the media buying department from scratch — but not in a vacuum: infrastructure, budgets and product analytics are already running.

What authority and budget do I get?

You shape the hiring plan, choose sources and allocate department budgets. Framework numbers are agreed with the owner quarterly; within them, decisions are yours.

How is the first quarter measured?

Three things: the first team assembled, tracking and reporting working, first campaigns profitable. We do not expect a profitable department in 90 days — we expect a working system.

Can I bring my own people?

Yes — that is a plus. Final hiring decisions are joint, but your proven buyers and leads are the fastest way to build the core.

Why build from scratch if the company is 15 years old?

The company has been a dating product business for 15 years. Buying was distributed across projects — now we are consolidating it into a dedicated professional team with its own brand. It is scaling, not a cold start.
